Additional Details

First published in Philadelphia in 1836. "This pamphlet . . . with its 21-page introduction attacking the good faith of the United States in sending its troops across the Sabine as far as Nacogdoches, was bitterly resented at Washington. Fuel was added to the flames when early in 1837 it was republished in Mexico with a prefatory note saying the republication was done by order of the interim president of Mexico . . . In due course this led to a break in diplomatic relations with Mexico, which were not resumed until 1839"--Streeter Texas III:1220A. Palau 62737; Sabin 16908; Streeter sale I:359.
